Erik ten Hag ‘wants relegated Premier League flop’ and Bayern Munich striker to solve Man Utd’s attack problem as they ‘open talks’ to sign him

Manchester United are looking to bolster their underperforming forward line and have identified four Bundesliga strikers with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, formerly of Stoke City, among them

Manchester United are considering a move for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who previously failed to cut it in the Premier League.

The Cameroonian forward was on the books at Stoke City in 2018 when they were relegated from the top flight, although Choupo-Moting did score against United in a 2-2 draw despite the Potters heading for the second tier.

Ten Hag spent big to land Hojlund in the summer despite reservations over his age and experience. His best performances have come in Europe, but in the league he had to wait until Boxing Day to score for the first time. United’s other forwards have also struggled to fire.

Marcus Rashford has endured a steep decline since he produced career best figures last term.

The academy graduate has notched just three times with their struggles in front of goal underlined by the fact midfielder Scott McTominay is their premier marksman with five goals
