JUST IN! – FIRST Man United signing set to undergo medical as Michael Carrick to finally complete £38m transfer move for the Brazilian
Manchester United reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign Enderson in a deal worth up to £38million more than a month ago, and now the transfer is finally set to be completed
Manchester United are edging closer to making their first signing of the summer transfer window. After Brazil crashed out of the World Cup on Sunday, Ederson is free to complete his long-awaited move to Old Trafford.
United and Atalanta agreed a deal worth up to £38million at the beginning of June, with personal terms on a contract until 2030 also in place. Ederson’s arrival was always scheduled to be finalised in July, and that was made certain when he received a late call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the World Cup.
The midfielder made two substitute appearances during the tournament, including a cameo in Brazil’s 2-1 loss against Norway in the round of 16. Now that Brazil are heading home, Ederson can focus on his club career.
Reports from Italy state that the 26-year-old is set to travel to the UK and complete the final part of medical, having already undergone initial checks with Brazil in the United States. No timeframe has been set, however, with Ederson expected to have a short break before linking up with his new United team-mates.

Ederson was identified by Carrick and United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, as a replacement for Casemiro, who recently left Old Trafford upon the expiry of his contract. His arrival would mark Carrick’s first signing since he was named permanent manager in May and kick-off a crucial summer for the Red Devils.
With Casemiro out of the door and Manuel Ugarte expected to miss most of the 2026-27 season after suffering a serious knee injury at the World Cup, United need midfield reinforcements.
