Wayne Rooney admits he wants Man Utd to re-sign his former team-mate BACK at Old Trafford to end striker worries
Danny Welbeck has scored eight goals for Brighton this season and former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes he would be a good option for his old side.
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney thinks the goal-strapped Red Devils by should re-sign Danny Welbeck.
Ruben Amorim’s squad are underperforming – lurking at an uncomfortable 14th in the Premier League table with a measly 33 league goals to their name.
Even their top-scoring forward Joshua Zirkzee boasts a scant three strikes, while Rasmus Hojlund has only two league goals under his belt.
But Welbeck is smashing expectations, with an impressive tally of eight this term, including a sizzling extra-time winner against Newcastle in the FA Cup. Reflecting on Welbeck’s form, Rooney said: “Danny, he’s great to play alongside!
“And if I’m being completely honest, I’d would probably still like to see him here playing for Manchester United. He scored goals throughout his career, had injuries in early part of his career, but seems to have got over them and he’s having a fantastic season.”
