Manchester United retain a strong interest in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite but he won’t come cheap, according to the latest reports.

A number of top flight clubs are reported to hold an interest in the centre-back including Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

But the latest reports claim Everton won’t be selling him for any less than a whopping £80m.

United had previously been linked with a £55m bid this summer. The i report: “Everton have slapped a minimum price tag of £80m on highly-rated defender Jarrad Branthwaite, with club insiders dismissing the prospect of a fire sale of one of their prized assets.”

They added:

“Branthwaite has been linked with a move to Manchester United for a fee in the region of £55m but i understands Everton have no intention of selling at that price.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United also hold an interest in the defender but clubs looking for a cut-price deal will be given short shrift.”
