Man Utd could have Harry Kane to thank as they ‘contact Bayern’ over £30m blockbuster deal

Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a swoop for Bayern Munich youngster Mathys Tel this summer in a blockbuster deal.

This comes after the French teenager has struggled to start regularly for Bayern this season ahead of Harry Kane.

The youngster has made 17 substitute appearances and scored three goals. However, with Kane hard to displace, Tel could look to progress his career elsewhere this summer and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Sky Reporter Florian Plettenberg tweeted that United had made contact with Bayern for the first time and are interested in signing the German forward this summer. However, he added that two other English clubs have also ‘inquired about him in recent weeks’.

Tel is said to want to stay at Bayern but would entertain a move away if he didn’t get the ‘feeling’ that Bayern would be ready to rely on him in the future. He wants to become a ‘legend’ at the club but will consider options elsewhere if he continues to be overlooked – though a loan move has been ruled out at this stage

Despite United making an approach for the youngster Kane could also have an influence if Tottenham are one of the English sides also interested. Ange Postecoglou has been searching for a striker since Kane’s departure in the summer to boost his exciting style of play.

However, with Tel looking for a summer move, Spurs could join United in the race to sign the teenager.

The arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS could see Erik Ten Hag given extra funds to improve his forward line in the summer.

Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund have both struggled this season with just 10 goals between them and Tel could boost their strike force.

United were also linked with a January move for Newcastle’s Callum Wilson, who was thought to be available for £18million amid Financial Fair Play concerns for the Magpies and he could again be a summer target.

Rennes academy product Tel has caught the attention of English clubs due to his physicality and predatory instinct inside the penalty box. Tottenham reportedly showed an interest during the summer but at the time Bayern were keen to keep the starlet in their squad
