Man United open talks to sign £63M Outstanding Sporting CP forward as Amorim wants him at Old Trafford -Reports

Manchester United are reportedly in the driving seat to land Viktor Gyokeres, having already opened talks to sign the Sporting CP talisman.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee’s future at United is in doubt due to Erik ten Hag’s departure because neither striker has proven they can lead the line in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

As a result of Amorim’s arrival, United has been connected to several elite strikers throughout Europe. But Gyokeres, who was absolutely outstanding at Sporting under the Portuguese, has garnered more media attention than anyone else.

The 26-year-old, who possesses impeccable pace and physicality, is certainly an ideal number nine for Amorim and it appears the United board also believe the same.

It is understood the Red Devils are the “favourites” to secure the Swede’s services, owing to his relationship with Amorim.

The United gaffer has already spoken to his former striker and “personal terms are not expected to be an issue.”

The club’s hierarchy are willing to offer him a contract until 2029 and are thought to be confident of winning the race for the in-form forward.

Meanwhile, Zirkzee has been linked with a return to Italy. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the ex-Bologna star wants to exit Old Trafford amid interest from Juventus
