Man United now confident of signing £43m-rated Bayern Munich star after Erik ten Hag talks

Manchester United has been on the lookout for a new center back in recent weeks, and it looks like they may have their answer soon.

Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich is allegedly being approached directly by manager Erik ten Hag to persuade him to move, according to reports in the Mirror.

In center defense with Lisandro Martinez, De Ligt would be a rock on the field, as the Dutchman has assured everyone that his job is secure.

After speaking with the manager directly, United is getting more optimistic that they can get the 24-year-old for £43 million.

After deciding to split ways with Raphael Varane on a free transfer, the Red Devils have been searching the transfer market for a prestigious center-back.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite was initially the priority target for the Red Devils, but they were put off by the Toffees’ £70m valuation for the 21-year-old sensation.

This has turned their attention towards De Ligt whose time at Bayern could conclude with the club’s ongoing pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah.

The Munich giants have already signed Hiroki Ito from Stuttgart and the arrival of Tah from Leverkusen would further increase competition for places in the XI.

We are not surprised that De Ligt has chosen to move on. United would be an ideal destination for him particularly with the chance to reunite with Ten Hag.

De Ligt had a passing accuracy of almost 94 percent in Bundesliga last term with 2.4 clearances and 3.3 ball recoveries. He won nearly 60 percent of his duels.
