Man United ‘interested’ in £21m star defender with three players on transfer shortlist – Report

Manchester United could be set for a busy January transfer window if reports are to be believed.

Joshua Zirkzee, Noussair Mazaoui, Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, and Matthijs de Ligt were the five players that Man United bought during the summer and brought to Old Trafford.

Despite joining on deadline day, Ugarte has not yet made a competitive appearance for United, and Yoro has not yet made his competitive debut following an injury sustained during the preseason.

It is not anticipated that transfers will be the main story for a few months. However, as the January transfer window draws near, speculation about the players United might buy in the coming year is certain to surface.

MEN Sport has examined a few of the most recent transfer rumors involving United that have surfaced in the past 24 hours.

United are reportedly interested in signing Sevilla defender Juanlu Sanchez. According to ABC Sevilla, the Reds made an approach to the La Liga club over the possibility of signing Sanchez earlier this summer. The 21-year-old starred for Spain at the Paris Olympics, where he helped his country win the gold medal in the final against tournament hosts France.

The report claims that, despite the apparent interest, United did not submit an offer to sign the right-back. Previous reports have claimed that Sanchez has a €25million (£21million) release clause in his contract at Sevilla.

Even though Sanchez had a busy summer featuring for Spain at the Olympics, he has still managed to start all four of Sevilla’s fixtures in La Liga this season. Sanchez typically plays at right-back but is also capable of performing further forward when required.

Elsewhere, United have reportedly identified three players that they will consider signing in January. According to Give Me Sport, the Reds are determined to sign a new left-back when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

The report claims that United have Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Stade Brest’s Bradley Locko as their three left-back targets. Even though all three players are mentioned in the report, it has been stated that Robinson and Kerkez are the two players being “seriously considered” by United.

It has been reported that United want to sign a new left-back to provide cover for Luke Shaw. The England international remains on the sidelines with an injury he suffered during the pre-season trip to the United States
