Man United make Surprise decision on signing Martin Zubimendi and Adrien Rabiot after £42m deal -Reports

Manchester United are likely to be in the market for further new signings in the not-too-distant future.

Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, and Manuel Ugarte are the five new players who Man United completed signing during the summer transfer window and brought to Old Trafford.

Though preparations are already in place for additional fresh acquisitions, all five players will strengthen United’s squad depth. MEN Sport has learned that United intends to sign at least three players in the 2025 summer transfer window.

In the next 12 months, the team is expected to prioritize adding a new defender, midfielder, and winger to its roster.

After weeks of rumors, United signed Ugarte to a contract this summer, strengthening their midfield. On the day of the deadline, the transaction was finalized as United signed the Uruguay international.

Ugarte was not the only midfielder considered by United, and certainly not the only one to be linked. Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi was credited as a target, as was free agent Adrien Rabiot following his exit from Juventus.

It’s understood that both Zubimendi and Rabiot were both considered as potential options for United to strengthen their midfield. However, the Reds’ priority target to bring to the club this summer was always Ugarte.

United are likely to face decisions over the midfield next summer regarding some of their existing players. Casemiro will still have a season left to run on his contract that expires in 2026, as well as the option of another year, while Christian Eriksen is expected to be a free agent when his deal runs out at the end of the campaign.

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is a player understood to be under consideration for United ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window. Eze was heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this summer but has remained with the Eagles, and is thought to have a £68million release clause which comes into effect next year
