I will join Man United on one condition – Xavi Simons responds to Man United transfer links this summer
Xavi Simons says he is ‘happy’ with Paris Saint-Germain but will make a decision on his future once the Netherlands’ Euro 2024 campaign is over.
Simons’ remarkable performance in the Eredivisie caused PSG to activate a £5 million buyback provision in his PSV contract.
The young player was then sent on loan to RB Leipzig, where he finished the previous Bundesliga season with eight goals and eleven assists.
However, Simons’ future is still unclear as the Dutchman hasn’t made a name for himself in Paris.
There is growing conjecture that Simons may make a high-profile move out of the Parc des Princes during the summer transfer window.
Long known to have a keen interest in Simons, Arsenal is reportedly up against Manchester United and other Premier League opponents for the attacker’s signature.
It’s understood Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also monitoring Simons, who is tied into a contract in the French capital until 2027.
‘My future? I don’t know yet. I’m here, happy, with my national team,’ Simons said when quizzed on his situation in the wake of the Netherlands’ goalless draw with France at Euro 2024.
‘We’ll see after the Euros what happens. Do I want to return to Paris? I was happy in Paris, things happened. I was at Leipzig this season.
‘After the Euros, we’ll see. I also see that the fans always wish me the best, and that’s good.’
Reports emanating out of France earlier this month indicated that ‘nothing has been decided’ between Simons and PSG and that another loan was ‘the most likely hypothesis’ this summer.
The Netherlands international is reportedly valued at around €60million (£51m) by PSG bosses.
Luis Enrique did his best to sidestep rumours over Simons’ future when asked about the Dutchman’s situation at a press conference last month.
‘I have a rule not to talk about players who are not at the club at the moment, who are elsewhere,’ the PSG head coach told reporters.
‘This is a player on loan who I already commented on at the time. I have nothing new to say at the moment.’
