Man United linked with fresh move for Versatile Bayern Midfielder Ralf Rangnick told them to sign while he was at Old Trafford

A player who Ralf Rangnick instructed the club to sign has apparently been linked to a move to Manchester United.

After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left United in 2021, German Rangnick was named interim manager.

Rangnick lost eight of his 29 games at Old Trafford, won eleven, and drew ten during his difficult tenure as manager.

The 66-year-old left United to take over as manager of the Austrian national team, although he was initially expected to play a technical role at the club.

During his time in charge, it was claimed that Rangnick recommended the club to sign four players.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Rangnick put forward Christoph Nkunku, Erling Haaland, Konrad Laimer and Josko Gvardiol as four players United should target.

Recently, it was reported by Sky Sports Germany that United have shown an interest in Laimer, who is now playing for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

As per The Metro, it has been suggested that Ruben Amorim has urged his bosses to sign the 27-year-old midfielder, who has caught his eyes.

The report stated: “Laimer’s versatility is especially appealing to Amorim, with the 27-year-old comfortable in midfield and at right-back, and United are said to be keeping close tabs on his situation at the Allianz Arena.

“United and Bayern have a good relationship after both Matthijs de Ligt and Mazraoui left Noussair Mazraoui swapped Munich for the Theatre of Dreams in the summer.”

However, SPORT BILD has claimed that Laimer ‘feels comfortable’ at Bayern and is not considering a move away.

Speaking recently about his lack of regular starts under new boss Vincent Kompany, Laimer said: “As a player you always want to play, that’s football. The situation is what it is. I’m playing for Bayern Munich and you don’t get to play by wishing for it.

“At the end of the day, it’s always, as they say, a shark tank, you have to stand your ground. It’s clear that there’s a lot of competition, a lot of good players.”

Laimer added: “‘I want to fight my way through and I know I have what it takes.”
