Man United set to press to finally sign £90million England international star – Report

Manchester United have had an awful start to the Premier League campaign despite a truckload of reinforcements in the summer.

With three losses from six games so far, Erik ten Hag is under immense pressure to keep his job.

Last night, the Red Devils got outclassed by Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.

The Australian strategist outperformed his Dutch counterpart in setting Spurs up, even before they were reduced to ten men at halftime.

The Old Trafford team was a complete mess defensively. Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is one player Man Utd hopes to sign in the summer.

The Toffees rejected the bid from the Red Devils, who were prepared to spend up to £60 million to sign him. Football Insider now reports that Manchester United will make a push to try and sign Branthwaite in January.

The Red Devils don’t want to wait, even if he has been injured thus far and may need some time to adjust to the new season. Everton is adamant that they want to sell for about £90 million.

Having just signed Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer, one really cannot explain how much sense it makes to sign another central defender for big money when there are so many holes to plug in the squad.

The issue with Man Utd seems more to do with their goal-scoring and chance creation than defending and spending money on Jarrad Branthwaite isn’t really warranted
