Shock Joshua Zirkzee ‘swap transfer’ claim made as Man United ‘target new striker’ in January -Reports

Manchester United are continuing to be linked with several potential new signings ahead of the January transfer window.

When the transfer market starts in the New Year, United will have three months to bolster their roster.

After a busy summer transfer window, it’s unclear if Ineos will opt to make any more roster changes.

Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, and Matthijs de Light are the five players who joined United and moved to Old Trafford.

Even so, there’s still a chance that United will sign further players in January; rumors have already begun to circulate around potential deals. Joshua Zirkzee and a departure from United are already being mentioned.

During the last transfer window, the Reds agreed to a €42.5 million (£35 million) deal to recruit the Bologna striker.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus could be in line to pursue a shock move to sign Zirkzee in the January transfer window. The report suggests the idea of a swap deal that could see Dusan Vlahovic move in the opposite direction and sign for United.

It has been claimed, though, that the chances of a deal remain unlikely due to the difference in wage demands for both players. The prospect of Zirkzee leaving Old Trafford so soon after his arrival would certainly be a shock and the chances of him sealing a transfer remain slim.

Elsewhere, United are reportedly interested in signing AZ Alkmaar forward Ruben van Bommel. The 20-year-old is the son of former Bayern Munich and PSV Eindhoven midfielder Mark van Bommel.

Also according to Calciomercato, United are competing with Bayern Munich and AC Milan for Van Bommel’s signature in the months ahead. It has been reported that Milan even tried to sign the winger in the summer but could not agree a deal.

Van Bommel plays on the left wing for Alkmaar and has scored six goals in nine appearances in all competitions this season. The forward also scored a match-winning brace in the Eredivisie club’s 3-2 win over Elfsborg in the Europa League last week.
