Top ‘Nice defender’ confirms transfer ‘discussions’ with Man United over potential move with release clause revealed -Reports

Jean-Clair Todibo has now admitted that he did hold talks regarding a move to Tottenham Hotspur but refused to reveal what the content of his conversation was or how close he came to a move.

Todibo was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham during the January window (BBC Sport) but the club were unable to get a deal for the Frenchman over the line at the time, choosing to secure Radu Dragusin from Genoa instead.

It was reported by GFFN last week that Nice were not willing to sell the defender to Spurs at the time and had put a €60m (£51.1m) price tag on the 24-year-old to ward off interest from the North London side.

However, the report claimed that the Ligue 1 club are now ready to sell Todibo for just €40m (£34m), with Tottenham set to reignite their interest.

The publication added that the Lilywhites are expected to face competition from Man Utd, who are also quite keen on the France international.

Todibo has now confirmed that he did hold talks with Spurs and the Red Devils but chose to keep his cards close to his chest when asked about those discussions.

When quizzed on the negotiations with the two Premier League sides, he told The Telegraph, “Honestly, I don’t want to talk about [my future] because of my respect for the fans here and the club also. But we had a little discussion, for sure.”

The Nice star did confirm that he dreams of playing at the highest level in the future.

He added: “My ambition is to play in the best competitions in the world and try to be the best version of me. Try to be the best defender, for sure, that I can be.”

I suspect that Todibo is on his way to Man Utd this summer, due to the INEOS connection.

Besides, Spurs are only looking for a backup centre-back and I doubt they would want to spend £35-£40m to sign such a player.
