Sir Jim Ratcliffe signs off Man United squad clearout with up to ELEVEN players up for sale

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has signed off a major overhaul of the club’s first team squad this summer in a bid to speed up changes at Old Trafford.

The 71-year-old completed his equity injection in the club on Tuesday, making him the single biggest shareholder at Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe has wasted little time in making changes at the Theatre of Dreams, with Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth set to join from Manchester City and Newcastle United respectively.

Once the right figures are in place at senior level, Ratcliffe and his INEOS team will then focus on making changes to the playing squad.

Ratcliffe said on Wednesday that it will take ‘two or three years’ for the club to be challenging the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Brandon Williams and Facundo Pellistri are all available.

Maguire and McTominay both came close to leaving the club last season, when West Ham wanted both players.

Sancho joined Dortmund on loan in January, after falling out with Erik ten Hag, while Van de Beek is enduring a difficult loan spell with Frankfurt.

Anthony Martial is out of contract and will be released when his deal expires.

Ten Hag will then look to improve his squad with the signing of at least one centre-back, a central midfielder and a forward.
