Saints Offensive Star Feared to Have Suffered Season-Ending Injury
New Orleans Saints lost their eighth game of the season – and to make matters worse, it appears the team may have lost offensive star Taysom Hill for the rest of the year.
The Saints star Taysom Hill went down with a serious injury on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams and it appears that injury does not look good.
Ian Rapport offered the update, stating, “Saints do-it-all TE Taysom Hill, who was carted off today, is feared to have suffered a season-ending knee injury, sources say.
No final diagnosis yet, as he’ll have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. But feared to be significant. A tough blow.”
Hill was wrapped up during a tackle, and it appeared that he suffered a significant leg injury. The star offensive weapon was then carted off the field, which pointed to the injury being potentially severe.
Now, it appears that fear has been realized. Hill is a proverbial offensive Swiss Army Knife. Though he is listed as a tight end, he comes into offensive packages as a running back, tight end, wide receiver, and quarterback.
Through the 2024 regular season, Hill has secured 150 receiving yards on 18 receptions, 268 rushing yards, six touchdowns on 34 carries, and 21 passing yards.
New Orleans often uses Hill in very intricate ways, and losing him for the rest of 2024 is going to severely impact the offensive attack for the team.
The Saints started the season off strong, securing a 2-0 record. However, the team then dropped the next seven games.
A big reason for the team’s issues has been injuries. Quarterback Derek Carr was out for multiple games due to an abdominal injury.
At the same time, Hill was also ruled out due to a hip injury. Also, wide receiver Rashid Shaheed was lost for the season after undergoing a full meniscus repair.
Fellow wide receiver Chris Olave also suffered two concussions in a matter of weeks and has not yet returned to play. Simply put, the Saints have been decimated by injuries on the offensive side of the ball. With Hill potentially out for the rest of 2024, the Saints lose a huge offensive weapon, along with their best backup quarterback.
Hill stepped in during moments when Carr was hurt, though he couldn’t do so in 2024, as he was suffering from a chest injury of his own
