Ruben Amorim gives update on Matthijs de Ligt injury in Manchester United defeat, he’s ‘really concerned’
Manchester United suffered defeat on Sunday afternoon as Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a 4-3 reverse at Brentford.
Manchester United beat Athletic Club 3-0 on Thursday night, taking a huge step towards the Europa League final.
Sunday’s trip to Brentford saw Ruben Amorim ring the changes as he prioritises Thursday’s second leg against Athletic.
Mason Mount put United in front, but the Bees then scored four unanswered goals to pull away from United.
Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo at least made the scoreline look a little more respectable as United fell to a 4-3 defeat at Brentford.
The attention turns straight back to the Europa League, but Amorim will now worry over Matthijs de Ligt’s injury

De Ligt suffered an injury at Nottingham Forest in April and made his first start since that injury as he featured in Amorim’s back three at Brentford.
The Dutchman lasted just 35 minutes against Brentford, though, as he went off with an apparent knee injury.
De Ligt’s exact injury status is unknown right now, but the uncertainty leaves Amorim worrying about the worst-case scenario.
“I don’t know so I’m really concerned – not about Thursday,” said Amorim. “We took off Luke Shaw at half-time to protect and have players for Thursday, but I’m more concerned whether it is a small or big injury and thinking about next season,” he added
