Man United player ratings vs Brentford with four 4/10s in latest Premier League defeat as Bees hold off late Fight back

Man United lost to Brentford in the Premier League and here are how the players rated at the Community Stadium.

Manchester United suffered their 16th Premier League defeat of the season as they were beaten 4-3 by Brentford on Sunday.

Mason Mount handed United an early lead after he slotted home Alejandro Garnacho’s cross.

Mikkel Damsgaard’s effort deflected off Luke Shaw and into the back of the net to bring the home side level and they took the lead shortly after through Kevin Schade.

Matthijs de Ligt had to be replaced by Harry Maguire after picking up an injury in the build-up to Brentford’s second goal. It remains to be seen whether he will be fit for the Europa League semi final second leg against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

Schade doubled his account in the second half before Wissa made it 4-1. Late goals from Garnacho and Amad offered hope but United were unable to find an equaliser

Here are how the players rated at the Community Stadium:

Altay Bayindir

Struggled to kick the ball properly and command his area. Made a couple of decent saves at 2-1 but this was further proof he is probably United’s third-best goalie. 4

Tyler Fredricson

Started where he left off against Wolves and sent the United fans into raptures with some commanding defending. Brentford did seize on his lack of physique for two goals. 6

Matthijs de Ligt

Went down injured in the move for Brentford’s goal and soon made way with an apparently separate issue to the foot injury that recently kept him out. 5

Luke Shaw

Captained United for the first time as their longest-serving starter and wasn’t at it. Came off at half-time for Leny Yoro. 4

Patrick Dorgu

Defended dozily at the far post for Schade’s headed goal. Only started in the absence of a senior right winger and made way at the pause. 4

Manuel Ugarte

Started well and drew warm applause from United fans following an authoritative piece of play. Could not maintain that level after the equaliser but assisted Amad. 6

Kobbie Mainoo

Played a wonderfully-timed pass down the line for Garnacho to assist Mount but offered little thereafter. 5

Harry Amass

His weakest performance by a distance. Could not get the measure of Bryan Mbeumo in the first half but more composed in the second and had a decent chance. 5

Alejandro Garnacho

Perfect cross for Mount but missed a fine chance just before half-time and his reading of the game in the final third was awry at times. Scored a beauty. 6

Mason Mount

Scored his second United goal and second at Brentford with a perfectly-timed run into the area. Could have got a second before he came off before the hour. 6

Chido Obi

Showed why he has had to wait until now to start. Looked like what he is: an underdeveloped 17-year-old boy among men. 4

Substitutes

Harry Maguire

Forced on early for the injured De Ligt and solid. 6

Leny Yoro

Sharpened up United’s backline. 6

Amad

Got a half under his belt and scored. 7

Christian Eriksen

Showed his class with a clipped ball for Amass after classless booing from some Brentford fans. 6

Victor Lindelof

Came on with 15 minutes to play. 5

Manager

Should have made more changes as he manages the players’ loads ahead of the second leg with Athletic Bilbao. Tried to jolt them with a couple of regulars sent on at half-time. 5
