Mikel Arteta urged to sign Outstanding Man United forward and former Real Madrid star for Arsenal this summer

Arsenal are set to be busy in the transfer window once again this summer and former defender Bacary Sagna believes Mikel Arteta should look to Manchester United to strengthen his squad

Arsenal should target Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane this summer as they bid to strengthen their squad, according to former defender Bacary Sagna.

The Gunners are set to dip into the transfer market again in the coming months as they look to find a way to Premier League glory.

Mikel Arteta will hope to find the answer to overcoming Manchester City after falling short by just two points and finishing runners-up for the second season in succession.

Ex-Arsenal and Man City ace Sagna believes that Arsenal should look towards Manchester United’s stars and that the club’s disappointing season should not diminish what the players can offer.

Rashford scored eight goals in 43 outings as United finished eighth in the Premier League, their worst-ever finish.

Sagna nevertheless believes Rashford’s pace in Arsenal’s line-up would prove devastating to the north London side’s rivals.

The Frenchman suggests such a transfer would send a ‘statement of ambition’.

“I would love to see Marcus Rashford at Arsenal,” Sagna told CoinPoker. “I think if you added Rashford to Arsenal’s attack, with the pace that he has, Arsenal would destroy the opposition. Adding Rashford to an extremely talented squad would be a frightening prospect for Arsenal’s rivals.

“Rashford is so quick. I think Arsenal having Rashford would enable Arsenal to have more variety in attack and I would love to see Gabriel Jesus and Marcus Rashford in the same team, pressing with so much intensity.

It would be a brilliant capture and I think there is room in the squad for a player of Rashford’s ability because Gabriel Jesus won’t be able to play every game and Kai Havertz can also play in a number of roles.

Rashford joining Arsenal would be a wonderful signing for the club and a real statement of ambition.”

Varane is out of contract this summer at Old Trafford and his departure has already been confirmed. The 31-year-old former Real Madrid star is in search of a new club after United decided not trigger an extension in his contract.

While Arsenal had the Premier League’s best defence last term, through a partnership between William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, Sagna reckons Varane’s arrival would offer a winning mentality that would provide the perfect fit as cover.
