Man Utd willing to ‘pay a lot of money’ to sign £85million star this summer – Reports

Manchester United may have the opportunity to finally sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

As per today’s version of Mundo Deportivo (news image provided below), the Spanish champions want the midfielder to renew his contract and remain within ‘viable salary parameters’

The renewal offer was made three months ago but the player has not responded as yet and the Blaugrana want the decision to be made soon.

In case De Jong decides to not put pen to paper, Barca will demand a fee of £85million (100 million euros) to sell him in the next window.

The Nou Camp outfit believe the 26-year-old has a market, especially in the Premier League where clubs like Man Utd and Chelsea would be willing to ‘pay a lot of money’ to sign him.

Barcelona hope Manchester City would renew their interest in the former Ajax star after Guardiola called to lure him in 2019 but failed.

In another story, Football Insider have revealed that the Red Devils and the Blues are well placed to sign De Jong from the La Liga giants, who will be forced to sell big name players to fund new signings.

Two years ago, Man Utd reached an agreement with Barca to unite the Dutch international with Ten Hag but the midfielder decided to stay with the five-time European champions
