Man Utd plot surprise January deal to sign £62million Napoli striker as possible Joshua Zirkzee replacement – Report
One of the biggest causes of concern that Man Utd have faced in their half-season so far under Erik ten Hag and then Ruben Amorim is a general lack of ability to score goals, especially with the strikers in the squad misfiring.
There hasn’t been a single consistent player who has been among the goals for the Red Devils so far this season with even the ever-reliable Bruno Fernandes experiencing a rather indifferent campaign at least until now.
Amorim has a lot that he needs to improve with the current squad but the first order of business might be identifying a player who knows where the back of the net is. There is no use in creating chances if there isn’t someone to finish them off.
Now, as per The Sun, Man Utd are plotting an amazing swap deal to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen who is currently on loan at Galatasaray and are willing to offer Marcus Rashford in return, who is of interest for the Italian club.
Osimhen, having fallen out with the Naples-based club, is spending the season in Turkey where he has scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 15 games across all competitions.
In contrast, all Rashford has managed so far is seven goals and three assists in 24 appearances.
The Nigerian striker is said to have a £62million release clause in his contract and Rashford is valued at £60million. The African star is a proven quality finisher and if United can get him for the inconsistent England international, then it would be an amazing piece of business.
It remains to be seen if Osimhen is willing to come to Old Trafford, especially, with no Champions League football on the horizon. It could be a deal-breaker for the Nigerian striker and let’s wait and see how it plays out
