Man United tipped to sign ‘Versatile’ €80m PSG Playmaker ahead of Manchester City as Amorim backs him to shine at Old Trafford – Reports
Manchester City will hope to arrest their dismal run of form when they face rivals Manchester United in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won just one of their last ten games across all competitions – the worst run of his management career – most recently being beaten 2-0 by Italian side Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday.
United, meanwhile, returned to winning ways on Thursday as they beat Viktoria Plzen 2-0 in the Europa League, having lost their previous two matches.
Sunday’s game at The Etihad therefore promises to be an interesting one, with both sides in desperate need of a victory.
Now, it appears that the two Manchester clubs could be set to battle it out off the pitch in the near future.
As per CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are set to join neighbours City in the race to sign RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.
Simons has attracted interest from both Manchester clubs
The 21-year-old winger is currently on loan from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, but the report suggests that he isn’t expected to stay at either club beyond the end of the current campaign.
Simons joined Leipzig on a two-year loan last summer and has since scored 13 goals in 54 games for the club across all competitions, as well as registering 17 assists.
He previously departed PSG permanently to join Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, where he impressed and registered a combined 34 goals and assists in 48 matches.
Fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal are also credited with an interest in the player, while Inter Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also said to be monitoring the midfielder.
Simons’ versatility will appeal to potential suitors, with the Netherlands international able to play on the left flank or centrally as an attacking midfielder
