Man United target “destined” for summer transfer as possible Jadon Sancho’s replacement

Manchester United’s potential replacement for Jadon Sancho is “destined” to leave his club this summer, according to Italian media.

Jadon Sancho will not play for Manchester United again following his public spat with Erik ten Hag earlier this season, where the winger claimed the Dutchman was playing favourites and brandished him as a liar in the media.

Sancho released a statement claiming he was being scapegoated after Ten Hag claimed the English winger had been dropped from the squad to face Arsenal following poor training performances.

After the English forward refused to apologise for his words, he was frozen out of all first-team activities.

In January, Sancho left Old Trafford to return to Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan deal. Since then, he has started to find his feet again, helping the Bundesliga club reach the Champions League final, where they suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Real Madrid.

With Sancho set to be sold for a reported fee of around £40 million, United have been reported previously as eyeing Federico Chiesa as a replacement—with links dating as far back as September last year.

A fresh report from transfer expert Matteo Moretto has now explained that Juventus have now decided to put Chiesa on the market and available for transfer this summer. Motetto says he is “destined” for a transfer.

The Italian winger’s contract expires in June 2025, and it is further noted that the player will decide his future in mid-July after the 2024 European Championships conclude.

While Chiesa will no doubt be on an initial list of potential forward signings at United this summer, the report also states that Antonio Conte, who has just assumed the position of manager at Napoli, is keen on the 26-year-old.

Conte is also said to be a fan of United loanee Sofyan Amrabat, having appreciated his performances during the 2022 World Cup and at Fiorentina.

“One of the names that Conte would like (in midfield) would, in fact, be Amrabat,” Italian agent Gigi Iacomino revealed last week.
