Man United ‘plan’ Alphonso Davies January transfer meeting as £37m asking price emerges

Manchester United were brought back down to earth in midweek with a 2-0 loss to Arsenal.

It was Ruben Amorim’s first taste of defeat in charge of the club after winning two of his first three games.

Attention swiftly turns to today and United will look to replicate their city rivals in dispatching Nottingham Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have started the season well and currently sit seventh, but have lost three of their last four games.

Manchester United are not ready to give up on their pursuit of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.

The Canadian star was reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract with the Bavarians, which hurt United’s chances of landing him.

Davies can sign a pre-contract with a foreign team in January, as his Bayern contract ends next summer.

Christian Falk has now disclosed that United has requested a January meeting with Davies and his agent.

The Old Trafford club may recruit him for free next summer, so they don’t need to worry about his current valuation of £42 million. A new left-back is needed for the Red Devils.

The current choices are Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, and Tyrrell Malacia; however, manager Ruben Amorim wants an upgrade.

United’s dream solution for the position is Davies, and the club will have to persuade him to join them ahead of other suitors.

Described as ‘world-class‘, the 24-year-old is also on Real Madrid’s radar.

Bayern are aware of interest from other clubs and eager to retain his services. However, they are unwilling to meet his salary demands.

Davies is regarded as one of the best left-backs in Europe, and it is no surprise that United want him.

He has the blistering pace and skills to play in Amorim 3-4-2-1, and the Portuguese tactician will love working with him
