Man United make ‘formal’ move for Bayern Munich star as Man City reject request -Report
Man United have been credited with ‘interest’ in signing Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies in recent weeks.
Bayern Munich’s left-back Despite persistent rumors that he is considering a move to Manchester United, Alphonso Davies has already moved away from speculation over his future.
The Canadian international has reportedly drawn “concrete interest” from United ahead of the summer transfer season, according to a report by Sky Germany.
Davies, 23, has a contract with Bayern that expires at the end of this season, and in recent weeks, rumors about his future have been growing. A move to Real Madrid, a Spanish team, is also being suggested for him.
However, since joining Bayern in January 2019, the defender has previously stated that he is only concerned with the current circumstances with Bayern and has refused to entertain any speculation about his future after this season.
“As of now, my full focus is to stay healthy and to play the game with the club I’m with right now,” said Davies, speaking earlier this month. “I’m not focused on what’s going on in the future.
“I’m just focusing on staying healthy and helping my team win. My team make me feel valued. The whole Bayern community make me feel valued. I see that each and every day.”
The Canadian, who is renowned for his speed, has made just north of 200 appearances for Bayern, winning 13 major honours in the process, including five Bundesliga titles and one Champions League crown. Under Vincent Kompany’s stewardship this season, the left-back has made 10 appearances thus far, claiming one assist.
Lifting the lid on what life has been like under the Belgian since his arrival in the summer, Davies said: “He is a very brilliant guy. The way that we’re playing now is very intense.
“He picks the best team and the best players to put on the team that train well. Every training session is a battle for the starting spot. Nothing is guaranteed. The way he talks to the team, he is polite but firm. He has ideas and we’re executing them well.”
