Man United ‘line up swap deal’ with Aaron Wan-Bissaka to sign England Euro 2024 star this summer

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make a swap deal in order to bring England defender Marc Guehi to Old Trafford this summer.

Man United has been open about their plans to bolster Erik ten Hag’s defense, and Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton is their top target.

Even if the Red Devils and the 21-year-old have personal conditions agreed upon, it has been difficult to reach an agreement with the Toffees about a transfer fee.

The Manchester Evening News said that Sean Dyche’s team offered nearly twice as much for Branthwaite, who was cut in favor of Guehi after Gareth Southgate’s initial 33-man roster for the Euros was rejected out of hand.

The price of £43 million was reportedly rejected out of hand.

Guehi is valued at Selhurst Park at £50m, another hurdle for United to overcome as they are tasked with improving the squad in several areas with a modest transfer budget, until sales are made as they look to adhere to Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

United are, however, willing to offer full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in exchange for Guehi in an attempt to bring down Palace’s asking price.

He is entering the final 12 months of his contract and there have been no talks over an extension.

A swap would represent an emotional homecoming for Wan-Bissaka, who left Palace for United in 2019, having come through the Eagles’ academy.

It is unlikely that he will still be valued at the £40m spent by the Red Devils in 2019, but as a makeweight he could still make a sizable dent in Guehi’s valuation.
