Man United fans have their honest verdict on Chido Obi performance vs Fulham as two things were immediately noticed
Manchester United fans dropped their clear-cut verdict on Chido Obi-Martin after his performance in the fifth-round FA Cup tie against Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils’ FA Cup title defence finally came to an end on the weekend and Ruben Amorim’s men crashed out of the competition on penalties.
Fulham stunned Manchester United after Calvin Bassey broke the deadlock in first-half injury time to put Marco Silva’s men into the lead going into half-time.
However, Ruben Amorim’s side rallied back in the second half at Old Trafford and Bruno Fernandes pulled United back into the FA Cup tie with a stunning finish.
Bruno Fernandes’ all-important equaliser forced the fifth-round clash into extra-time and neither United nor Fulham were able to break the deadlock again.
The FA Cup tie was settled in a penalty shootout and all four of Fulham’s spot-kick takers successfully converted past United No 1 Andre Onana.
Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot and Casemiro all scored their penalties for United, but both Joshua Zirkzee and Victor Lindelof were denied from the spot-kick.
Fulham have now punched their ticket to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and Amorim’s last chance of lifting silverware now rests on the Europa League campaign.
Chido Obi-Martin came off the bench in the 68th minute and replaced struggling Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund in the fifth round of the FA Cup tie.
The 17-year-old United talent arrived at Old Trafford last September after he left Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chido Obi has been tipped for a bright future.
Chido Obi became part of the United youth academy and has since emerged in the first-team squad after Ruben Amorim’s arrival from Sporting CP last November.
The United attacker secured valuable minutes against Fulham and was lively in the frontline, with Chido Obi narrowly missing the chance to write his name in the stars.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, praised Chido Obi for “doing a lot more” than Rasmus Hojlund did during his time on the pitch.
Red Devils supporters pointed out that Chido Obi has shown he’s still “super raw” and needs more time, but they “believe” in the player’s potential at Old Trafford.
17-year-old Chidi Obi was left out of @ManUtd’s #FAYouthCup win against his former club, Arsenal on Friday
“Chido is raw and will miss chances to start off his career at just 17 years old. But he has offered so much more than Rasmus,” one fan said.
While a second added: “Chido obvs not ready for consistent first-team [foot]ball, but he’s putting the ‘Hojlund do
