Man United eyeing £38m-rated Atalanta’s Midfielder after suffering huge Manuel Ugarte transfer blow

All of INEOS’ current focus is on strengthening in the middle of the park after a couple of concerning pre-season displays from Casemiro.

As fans often witnessed last season, the Brazilian has lost more than a yard of pace and appears to struggle against elite opposition, as the Liverpool match served as yet another reminder.

Although Erik ten Hag and the former Real Madrid player have made amends, the new co-owners wish to part ways with him because of his enormous salary.

Moving him on has proven challenging, though, and he might be in line to start the season for the Red Devils as no Saudi Pro League teams have placed a bid for him thus far. United need a new DM severely.

The 20-time English league champions have not been able to come up with the necessary funds to sign their top defensive midfield target, Manuel Ugarte, with the 32-year-old still competing in red.

Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price will not be met by United and they have left the race and will only consider coming back for the Uruguayan should the Ligue 1 outfit reduce their asking price.

The club is looking at multiple names and Givemesport have claimed that United are considering making a move for Atalanta star Ederson, who was scouted extensively last season.

The club had spoken to the Brazil international’s camp as well back in March, which means the player is aware of United’s interest.

The Europa League champion has suitors all across Europe and could be available for £38 million, a price much lesser than what PSG want for their star.

“Manchester United are considering whether to make a move for Atalanta star Ederson after being forced to turn their attentions towards alternative targets due to being unable to persuade Paris Saint-Germain to sanction Manuel Ugarte’s switch to Old Trafford, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Ederson back on the radar
“Manchester United have had two verbal offers rejected for Ugarte, and Ten Hag is mulling over whether to attempt to land Ederson after an initial approach was made to his camp in March before keeping him on his radar as a potential recruit.

“The two-cap Brazil international has been strongly linked with a £38 million move away from Atalanta having gained additional interest from the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, Liverpool.”

The 25-year-old was in the top five percent among his peers in Serie A for tackles won, duels won and interceptions (as per fotmob) while he also scored seven times last season
