Man United could lose ‘very important’ star as Premier League club makes enquiry

Everton is rumored to have made an official transfer enquiry, which means Manchester United could lose their “very important” talent Scott McTominay.

The Dutchman expressed how much he admires the 27-year-old midfielder in a speech given just last month. Erik ten Hag is a major fan of the Scotland international.

However, McTominay, who graduated from the team’s academy, may end up leaving the Red Devils, as Everton is now the newest team in the running for his services.

Following Brentford and Fulham as their two interested Premier League teams, The Athletic has learned that the Toffees have made an inquiry for the player.

McTominay has also attracted interest from overseas teams such as Italian club Napoli as well as Turkish duo Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

Such widespread interest suggests United could potentially be pressured into a sale or loan, especially if the player himself is keen to secure more regular playing time.

But despite the widespread interest in McTominay, Ten Hag is adamant he views the midfielder as an important player and wants him to remain at Old Trafford.

Last month, the Dutchman was quizzed about McTominay’s future and said: ‘We have very good players so there will always be an interest from other clubs.

‘When you score 10 goals in a season and also perform very good for Scotland, then there will be an interest.

‘But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad’
