Man United confident of agreeing huge £70m deal for Everton star by 30 June – Reports

Man United are confident a bid of between £60-70million will be enough to land Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (22 April) that United are pushing ahead to agree an early-window deal for Branthwaite.

It is believed the 21-year-old could be sold by Everton before 30 June to include his fee in their accounts for the 2023-24 campaign and avoid further points deductions.

The Toffees are desperate to keep the centre-back but are likely to cash in to attempt to avoid a further brush with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Branthwaite is the “top target” for Man United as they look to revamp their defence this summer.

The Old Trafford club are long-term admirers of the England Under-21 international and are ready to make him their first capture in the off-season, as well as the first of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS regime.

Branthwaite has made 36 appearances across all competitions for Everton this term – starting in each of those outings.

The centre-back, who earned a first senior England call-up last month, is under contract at Goodison Park until June 2027 after penning a new deal in 2023.

Man United are keen to put the 21-year-old at the heart of their rebuild under Ratcliffe and INEOS.

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are out of contract in June – while Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Willy Kambwala are also set to be on the books for the 2024-25 campaign.
