Man United are keen to make £60m-rated midfielder their major summer signing’, but face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for Crystal Palace star

Eberechi Eze is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs this summer

Manchester United will reportedly make a move to sign Eberechi Eze this summer but another big Premier League are also circling the Crystal Palace star.

Mail Sport revealed on Friday that Eze has a release clause in his current deal worth £60million plus additional add-ons worth in the region of £8million.

The forward was named in the final England squad for Euro 2024 on Thursday and is preparing for his first major tournament as a senior international.

Eze has genuine interest from a number of Premier League clubs with United and Spurs leading the race to sign the former QPR star.

Now, The Sun report that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new regime want to make him their marquee signing of the summer transfer window.

The north London club also look to have the upper hand after Eze’s friends and family were again seen in his agency’s hospitality suite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium towards the end of last season.

However, manager Ange Postecoglou has multiple areas he wants to strengthen and might be reluctant to spend too much of the budget on the Palace man.

If Eze excels during the tournament, Palace are likely to face a major fight to keep their brilliant forward at the club next season.

England boss Gareth Southgate, speaking on Thursday, insisted he would not prevent his players from discussing transfer whilst on international duty.

‘I’ve never banned players from having discussions. It’s a fact of life, even if transfers don’t complete, talks are ongoing, normally across the summer with players, I’m always there for them if they want to bounce things off,’ said the national team head coach.

‘I’m always saying to them, don’t get het up about things. Things will take their natural course.

‘We are in a world where there might have to be deals done quickly, who knows but we’re comfortable with dealing with all those things.’
