Man United agree personal terms with £51m star as they move in on third summer signing

Manchester United are closing in on their third signing of the summer transfer window after agreeing personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Red Devils, who have already confirmed the additions of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, are eager to add the Uruguayan to their roster.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club and the 23-year-old have talked and decided on the contract conditions, with Ugarte eager to come to Old Trafford.

Negotiations between Manchester United and PSG are still underway, so a deal is not finalized just yet.

Although it is obvious that the Red Devils are in a strong position to make the acquisition, other teams are also interested in the defensive midfielder.

Ugarte only signed a £51 million contract to join PSG from Sporting last summer.

He played 37 games for the French powerhouse in all competitions.

Despite that fee only being spent 12 months ago, when the Uruguayan signed a five-year deal, the Guardian reports that PSG may be willing to sell him this summer for just €45m (£38m).

18-year-old centre-back Yoro was unveiled as Manchester United’s second summer signing on Thursday evening in a £52m move from Lille.

This followed Zirkzee arriving from Bologna on Sunday in a £36.5m move, after an impressive season in Serie A last time round for the Dutch striker.

Even if they land Ugarte, that may not be the end of the business at Old Trafford this summer as they are still tracking another centre-back.

Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite are on the radar, but sales will have to be made if United are to keep buying.

Mason Greenwood left the club for Marseille on Thursday, while Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala and Alvaro Fernandez have all also been sold.

Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could follow them out of the door, with Fulham and West Ham interested respectively
