MAJOR RETURN! – Saints New coach plan to open the window for two young offensive playmakers to come off injured reserve
Two young offensive playmakers could be making their return to the New Orleans Saints lineup this week against the New York Giants.
Interim head coach Darren Rizzi said the team plans to open the 21-day practice window for both running back Kendre Miller and wide receiver Bub Means this week, and hinted that one or both could return to the lineup.
Miller, in particular, could have a big impact after New Orleans learned Monday that all-purpose offensive weapon Taysom Hill was done for the season with what is expected to be an ACL tear. Hill is currently the Saints’ second-leading rusher.
The 22-year-old Miller has missed most of this season with two separate hamstring injuries, appearing in only two games. He also had his rookie season cut short by multiple injuries. But he has shown some tantalizing ability in his limited playing time.
Miller’s nine rushing attempts this season went for 52 yards, a 5.8 yards-per-carry average. Four of those nine carries went for at least eight yards.
New Orleans selected Means in the fifth round of this year’s draft out of the University of Pittsburgh.
He didn’t catch a pass in his first four games as a pro, but showed some ability in a three-game stretch in the middle of the season, hauling in nine passes for 118 yards and a touchdown before landing on injured reserve with an ankle injury
