Leny Yoro disagrees with Cristiano Ronaldo as Man Utd defender reflects on start at club

Leny Yoro, who signed a £52 million contract with Manchester United from Lille in the summer, has already established a clear boundary between himself and the club’s legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.

Leny Yoro’s insistence that he has no issue with the Manchester weather has established a clear boundary between him and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Yoro left Ligue 1 team Lille in the summer to join Manchester United for £52 million.

An ankle ailment severely hampered his start at United, and he has only been well enough to play eight games thus far.

However, since he recovered, he has made frequent appearances under new manager Ruben Amorim. In addition to adjusting to life as a footballer at a Premier League

The 18-year-old has revealed he is taking English lessons to aid himself in his new surroundings. And he has also claimed that he has no problem with the infamously miserable weather in Manchester

“Honestly, everything is going well,” he told Telefoot. “I’ve got everything I need. The team is welcoming, and there are other young players, which helps. The weather is similar to the north of France, so that’s not much of a change.

“The language is coming along; I’m starting to get used to speaking properly. I understand now, because the hardest part is sometimes understanding what they’re saying with the accent, but it’s going well.”

Yoro’s claims mark a clear dividing line between himself and Ronaldo, who made no secret of his dislike for the British rain. Back in 2006, the Portuguese superstar admitted that the poor weather was making life difficult.

“I like to play for Manchester – better than [I like] the weather,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports News at the time. “The weather is very difficult for me because you see snow, every time, and rain.

“It’s difficult compared to Portugal, where you see sun every day, which is why it’s difficult for me. But the club is massive and I’m very happy for staying here.”

Yoro made his United debut in the defeat at title challenging Arsenal last month. Speaking ahead of that game, boss Amorim made it clear the young defender had caught his eye

“He is a special talent, we have to be careful in the first moment. We didn’t have too many training [sessions] together. He has been training with a small group of players. He is really fast, a modern defender,” he said.

“He will be good when we want to press high and you leave a lot of strikers in this league one against one, he can manage that. He is very good with the ball so I am very excited. We have to be careful, we have to manage the load and minute in the beginning but I am really excited to see Leny Yoro playing.”
