Ivan Toney transfer ‘agreed’ as Manchester United get major transfer update

Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney’s transfer could reportedly be completed within the next 24 hours after he again was left out of the Bees’ squad for their trip to Liverpool.

Since Toney made it quite evident last season that he wanted a “big move,” the England international’s future at the London club has been in doubt for the entire summer.

The 28-year-old was unavoidably connected to a move to Old Trafford as Manchester United searched for strikers during the summer transfer window.

Joshua Zirkzee was added by United manager Erik ten Hag to the squad, but following Rasmus Hojlund’s injury, rumors that the Reds might make a last-ditch effort to sign him returned.

Ivan Toney was not included in the Brentford side that defeated Crystal Palace the previous weekend, and he was not included in the Sunday lineup against Anfield.

Explaining to Sky Sports the reason for Toney’s absence, his manager Thomas Frank said: “The status is the same as last week. Things are going on with transfer speculation so the decision is the same.

“He is training well, there is no problem. I’d rather focus on the game and the players that are playing instead of talking about him.”

Despite all the talk surrounding the Reds, Toney’s most likely destination is Saudi Arabia. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Al Ahli have agreed terms with the forward over a move to the Middle East.

The Saudi Pro League’s vice chairman Saad Al-Lazeez and sporting director Michael Emenalo are thought to be in London to iron out the final details of the contract.

As for United, they persisted with no starting striker in the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion but switched things up at half-time when Zirkzee was introduced
