Ivan Toney seals move as Brentford agree £40m deal amid strong Man United transfer links
Ivan Toney is set to move to the Saudi Pro League after Brentford accepted a £40m bid for the striker from Al Ahli.
The England attacker appears to be headed to Saudi Arabia, however he has been linked to several Premier League teams, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United.
The 28-year-old will now have a physical in London prior to agreeing to a four-year contract with his new Saudi Pro League team.
Interestingly, Al Ahli and Napoli have reached an agreement for Victor Osimhen, giving them a formidable new assault force comprised of the Englishman and the Nigerian.
The 25-year-old striker’s transfer is expected to cost over €80 million (£67.25 million), and a four-year deal worth about £21 million annually is on offer.
Though they would have to sell one, there are still questions over whether the Saudi team could sign both players.
If Osimhen and Toney do move to Al Ahli, they will join the likes of Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, Franck Kessie and Edouard Mendy at Al Ahli.
The team, managed by German Matthias Jaissle, has opened the season with a win and a draw in their first two games.
Toney was left out of the Brentford squad by Thomas Frank for their opening two Premier League games of the season, but the Bees boss sounded unclear on his future after a loss to Liverpool on Saturday.
‘Ivan trained the whole week,’ Frank said. ‘Trained with a good attitude in every aspect. He could be involved, he could not be involved.
‘He could be here after August 30 and he could not be here. Basically, everything is up in the air. I’ve said the whole time that if he’s here I’m very happy, if he’s not here then I’m happy on his behalf. Who knows, let’s see, let’s see what will happen.’
Toney will leave Brentford after scoring 72 goals in 141 games for the Bees
