Tottenham interested in loan offers for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg amid Manchester United links

Tottenham will not let Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave on loan in January, amid interest from Manchester United, according to reports.

Hojbjerg was linked with a shock move to Old Trafford late in the summer transfer window before the Red Devils opted to sign Sofyan Amrabat instead.

It seemed a certainty that the Danish international would be leaving North London after he was courted by both Atletico Madrid and a Saudi Pro League side.

A £30million deal with the former was reportedly agreed, but they couldn’t settle on personal terms with the midfielder, with Spurs later rejecting a loan offer from the Spanish club.

And though Spurs may still be open to selling Hojbjerg, Fabrizio Romano reports that they zero interest in a loan deal for the player who remains a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Ajax and Juventus are interested, while United may still be keen given their midfield issues which have in part been caused by Amrabat’s poor form.

Hojbjerg signed for Spurs from Southampton in 2020 in a deal worth £15m, and has gone onto make 158 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and making 16 assists.

A key player under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, the 28-year-old isn’t as well-admired by Ange Postecoglou, hence the willingness to sell him for the right price.

10 of his 12 Premier League appearances this season have come from the bench, with Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma and James Maddison the manager’s preferred midfield trio.
