‘I need a break mentally’ – Aaron Rodgers on 2025 surprising Jets decision as Sunday could be his last NFL game finally revealed

“I just need a break to refresh, put my feet in the sand and see where I’m at after that.”

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers remained non-committal on his plans for 2025, telling reporters Wednesday, “I need a break mentally.”

Aaron Rodgers has made it known for months he’s not sure whether he’ll return to play in 2025 and if he does play, whether it will be with the New York Jets.

New Year’s Day brought no clarity in that situation for Rodgers, or at least what he’s willing to admit publicly. When asked about his decision Wednesday, Rodgers said he needs a “break.”

“I need a break mentally. I don’t want to make a decision until I’ve been able to rest mentally and physically,” Rodgers said (via Zack Rosenblatt). “I just need a break to refresh, put my feet in the sand and see where I’m at after that.

“March is free agency, I don’t think we’re going to get that far because there’s going to be a regime change here with the GM and then I’ll either get a call or have a conversation and go from there.”

A reporter also asked Rodgers what goes through his mind when he thinks about the “Jets chapter” of his career.

“Gratitude. It’s been the best two years of my life,” he said. “Just the excitement falling back in love with the game, getting to know these guys in here.”
