Huge Viktor Gyokeres to Man United transfer takes fresh twist as £51m pathway emerges
The latest Man United transfer news and gossip amid speculation over Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres
Manchester United have been given fresh hope in the battle to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The summer transfer window will open in just over a month from now – which means speculation is only going to intensify as the days and weeks go on. Already there have been several reports claiming to provide insight into the transfer business that United will look to conduct at the end of the season.
One player who has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford this summer is Gyokeres. The Sweden striker has scored 52 goals in 48 appearances for Sporting this season and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Portuguese club this summer
United are among a host of clubs who have been credited as a possible suitor for Gyokeres going into the summer transfer window. Now, a fresh update has emerged about the striker’s future, which concerns United.
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, United will have “plenty of competition” for Gyokeres’ services. Arsenal are reported to be “pushing” to sign the striker when the summer transfer window opens, and have already reportedly opened talks to bring the player to north London.
United are mentioned in the report as still being a possible destination for Gyokeres, but the same also applies to Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Sporting are reported to be willing to allow Gyokeres to leave the club this summer, provided their asking price is met, which is thought to be between €60million (£51million) and €70million (£59.6million).
