How Viktor Gyokeres feels about joining Man United revealed as Sporting Lisbon set new asking price
Manchester United’s interest in signing Viktor Gyokeres is once again coming to the forefront after two days of the transfer window.
The Swede is seen as a top target for Ruben Amorim this year, with the current striking options failing to blow the head coach away – with zero goals in the past three games.
Manchester United’s terrible goal record has seen relegation-threatened sides like Wolves and even Leicester City score more goals in the league
The Sporting Lisbon striker was 2024’s top scorer across Europe’s big league and he is seen as capable of saving United’s season.
Now, the stance of Gyokeres – who idolised former United pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – has been revealed and it is positive for the Red Devils.
Viktor Gyokeres verdict on Old Trafford move in 2025
We all know that January will be a long and frustrating month, with United unable to do the necessary business unless we sell.
However, according to I News journalist Pete Hall, this does not mean that Ineos are not already lining up moves and deals should funds become available.
Gyokeres is a player Amorim really wants to sign, and it is claimed this feeling is reciprocated with the No.9 being very keen on the move.
So with all parties wanting a deal done, it is one we would expect to happen quite fast should United make the necessary departures
Sporting Lisbon’s asking price will trouble Manchester United
If we are being honest, Sporting Lisbon will not be welcoming the United approach for Gyokeres – who has scored 27 goals in 27 games this season – with open arms
This is because Ineos took Amorim from them mid-season – which has led to their campaign taking a turn with Amorim’s replacement already sacked. So, rightfully, if Sporting sees United coming to take another key factor of their club mid-season, they’ll demand a lot.
Gyokeres therefore has had an £80m asking price slapped onto him for any club looking to sign him in January. However, if United can wait until the summer, the Portuguese giants would accept £60m.
£80m for a striker is not a luxury United have right now, even in the event of sales, with so much of the squad needing additions it would be silly to spend so much on one position which Rasmus Hojlund may still end up shining in as he has yet to get a chance with a functioning attack
