Fabrizio Romano confirms Man United target in £60m RB-Leipzig striker offered surprise ‘LUCRATIVE’ contract

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have a fight on their hands if they are to land RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, with the forward offered a contract that has been described as “lucrative” by Fabrizio Romano.

In recent weeks, Arsenal have pivoted towards signing Sesko ahead of more expensive options such as Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres or Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Mikel Arteta’s push for the player has been conditioned by the excellent form of Kai Havertz, who scored the winning goal on the final day of the Premier League season against Everton as the Gunners came up just short in their pursuit of Manchester City.

The thinking is now that Havertz is providing enough goals to allow Arsenal to push some of their transfer budget elsewhere.

But the chase for Sesko is becoming more complicated. The Slovenia international’s release clause at RB Leipzig has leapt from €50 million to €75m due to his recent performances but Romano has also outlined another reason: the Bundesliga club are doing everything they can to keep him.

In a post on X, Romano states: “RB Leipzig have made contact with Benjamin Sesko’s agent in recent days to offer new lucrative contract.

“Several top clubs want Sesko this summer, especially from the Premier League.

“Leipzig offer new deal and key-player project to stay for one more year.

“Up to Sesko.”

As explained by Christian Falk last week: “In Leipzig they say: Sesko is physically even stronger than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. Both strikers were trained at Red Bull Salzburg.”

Meanwhile, he also explained that Sesko insisted on a release clause in his previous contract, and this would surely be a feature of any new deal, keeping the door open to a potential move to Arsenal or Manchester United, albeit inevitably at a higher price
