Erik ten Hag eyes new £15m Ajax striker for Man United as Jadon Sancho completes exit to Dortmund

Jadon Sancho has rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan following his public falling out with Erik ten Hag, while Ajax striker Brian Brobbey has emerged as a target for Manchester United

Manchester United are set to return to action this weekend when they host Tottenham on Sunday in their first Premier League fixture since the disappointing 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on December 30.

And with United currently eighth in the table and already out of Europe, Ten Hag is under huge pressure to turn around their fortunes.

He has admitted that United could dip into the transfer market this month, with a new striker top of Ten Hag’s wishlist.

Rasmus Hojlund has failed to hit the ground running since making a £72million move to Old Trafford over the summer, while the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have also struggled in front of goal. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United transfer news.

Sancho rejoins Dortmund
Jadon Sancho has completed a loan move to former club Borussia Dortmund, having been frozen out by Ten Hag following a public spat.

Mirror Football understands Dortmund are forking out a £3m loan fee and will pay an additional £3.4m in add-ons if certain performance-based clauses are met. “When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like ‘coming home’,” Sancho said.

“I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge. I can’t wait to see my team-mates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League.”

Ajax star eyed
Brian Brobbey is being targeted by United in what would seal a reunion with former boss Ten Hag.

Although United are keen to strengthen their forward line this month, a move for Brobbey is being lined up for the summer unless they can raise significant funds. Arsenal are also interested in the 21-year-old.

Brobbey came through Ajax’s academy and made his debut under Ten Hag, before leaving to join RB Leipzig. However, things did not work out in Germany and Brobbey returned to Ajax on loan the following year before the move was made permanent
