Liverpool might well be glad to get back down to business tomorrow after what has been an extraordinary few days.

The build-up to the Europa League group stage clash against Union Saint-Gilloise has been dominated by the fallout from the VAR controversy surrounding the Reds’ defeat at Tottenham.

The PGMOL has since released the audio from the VAR and referees on duty that day, demonstrating how a breakdown in communications led to Luis Díaz’s goal being wrongly disallowed. Jürgen Klopp has now suggested the game should be replayed, although conceded it is unlikely.

While it has been an unprecedented few days for Liverpool, it can still count itself lucky to be in a better position than its great rival.

Manchester United’s poor start to the season continued on Tuesday with another defeat leaving it in danger of going out of the Champions League at the first hurdle, and things don’t look to be improving on or off the pitch at the moment for the Red Devils.

Bruno Fernandes shows frustration at André Onana

Bruno Fernandes has never been shy of showing his frustrations with his teammates, and André Onana bore the brunt of the Manchester United captain’s ire during another calamitous defeat.

United were beaten once again at home on Tuesday, this time against Galatasaray in the Champions League, with Onana again not covering himself in glory with an error-strewn performance.

Once such incident was spotted by the MEN, and saw the goalkeeper play a loose pass which allowed the Turkish side to turn the ball over and go on the attack, with Fernandes making no effort to hide his emotions
