Erik ten Hag is ready to ditch Antony in January by using the winger as a makeweight in a deal to sign Brazil star Gabriel Barbosa, according to reports.

United signed Antony for £85million in 2022, but the winger has failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford.

The former Ajax playmaker hasn’t scored or assisted in 11 appearances for the club this season.

He’s faced allegations of domestic abuse, though he strongly denies the claims.

Ten Hag is starting to lose patience with Antony, and he was removed after an hour against Fulham on Saturday.

Barbosa has netted 18 times for Flamengo this term and he’s available for around £20m, as his contract expires in 2024.

Flamengo are resigned to losing their star man but they’re willing to take Antony on loan, according to the Mirror.

United would be short of suitors to take Antony on a permanent deal, but the hope is that a promising loan spell could revive his career.

Antony’s contract runs until 2026, and they would get nowhere near the £85m they paid for him 18 months ago
