Manchester United are reportedly considering a bid for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah in the summer.

The Red Devils have suffered a whole host of defensive problems this season, as they conceded a scarcely believable 85 goals in all competitions.

The team looked significantly more solid in the FA Cup final against Manchester City at the weekend in a 2-1 win but the side will no longer be able to call on Raphael Varane, who is leaving the club at the end of June when his contract expires.

There is also a strong possibility that Jonny Evans and one of Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof have also played their final game for United.

Consequently, centre back is a priority position for INEOS to fill and the club are said to be “confident” of signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.

There have also been numerous sources linking United with a move for soon-to-be free agent Tosin Adarabioyo and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Independent have now claimed that Erik ten Hag’s side may have another young Premier League star on their radar.

The outlet writes, “Manchester United are considering a move for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah as they assess centre-half options for next season.”

It has been reported that “Chelsea are willing to do business on at least one of Chalobah or Connor Gallagher, in order to meet profit and sustainability rules by the 30th of June.”

Interestingly there also seems to be a set price on “a transfer fee of around £25m” for the Englishman.

United have previously been credited with an interest in the player back in March.

The defender has had terrible luck with injuries this season, missing the beginning of the campaign and not returning until February.

He made a total of 17 appearances for the Blues this season scoring one goal.

The 24-year-old has been described as a “versatile” player who is proven as both a central defender and defensive midfielder.
