Bruno Fernandes sends Man United star Alejandro Garnacho two-word message after sensational goal vs Man City
Alejandro Garnacho received a two-word message from Bruno Fernandes following Manchester United’s Community Shield loss to Manchester City on penalties.
At Wembley, Garnacho came on as a substitute and gave an outstanding performance while he was on the field.
As the match entered its last ten minutes goalless, Garnacho made the crucial breakthrough. Fernandes threaded a beautiful ball that released the Argentine free on the right side.
He raised his marker, then backed toward the hole and drove a thin, low drive into the lower corner.
Garnacho’s goal was excellent, and it marks his second consecutive goal for United after he scored in the FA Cup final in May.
Despite that, Erik ten Hag’s side could not hold on to win the Community Shield for the first time in eight years, as City scored an 89th-minute equaliser.
Bernardo Silva was the man who got the decisive touch, as he headed home Oscar Bobb’s cross to ensure the result would be decided by a penalty shootout.
And following a topsy-turvy shootout, Manuel Akanji scored the winner for City after United’s Jonny Evans missed to ensure Guardiola’s side lifted the Community Shield.
As for United, it was a promising performance from them and Fernandes was at the heart of most they did. The same can be said about Garnacho despite only playing the final half an hour.
