Adrien Rabiot still keen on free transfer to Premier League amid Man Utd interest
The France midfielder Adrien Rabiot is available on a free transfer, and the player is still eager to join the Premier League.
Although the summer transfer window ended on Friday night, English clubs are still able to sign players without a contract.
Rabiot’s contract at Juventus expired in July, and he is one of many well-known players still seeking a new team.
Late in the transfer window, AC Milan considered making a move for the France international; but, with Ismael Bennacer still with the team, the desire eventually subsided.
Two years ago, Rabiot was on the verge of joining Manchester United, but his deal was derailed by salary demands.
According to reports from as recently as last month, the 29-year-old was the subject of renewed attention from Premier League clubs.
The former Paris Saint-Germain youngster has never hidden his desire to one day play in the Premier League and Gazzetta dello Sport report he ‘still dreams’ of a move to England.
He has previously said: ‘I have always said that I’d like to play in England in my career. I still have that desire.
‘I’d like to evolve in the Premier League. It’s the league, it’s the level of play that’s going on, that’s what attracts me most. It corresponds to my qualities.
‘I haven’t got a Premier League team in mind right now. I haven’t chosen a team or anything. It’s a general thing.’
United have signed Manuel Ugarte from PSG with that move made official on deadline day. But on Sunday’s evidence, they remain light on options in midfield with Casemiro enduring a nightmare afternoon in the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The Brazil international was hauled off at half-time, replaced by 20-year-old Toby Collyer. Galatasaray are now reportedly now in talks to sign the former Real Madrid star one a season-long loan deal.
Ugarte is expected to take Casemiro’s place in the United starting XI for Kobbie Mainoo but an exit for Casemiro would leave them short with Collyer and Christian Eriksen there only other central midfield options
