90% DONE DEAL: Finally Man United set to ‘close deal’ for £30m Liverpool target in the next 48 hours as he arrives Manchester to help Erik ten Hag solve Mason Mount problems

Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of a Liverpool transfer target.

Manchester United are looking to close a deal ‘soon’ to sign Sofyan Amrabat, according to reports. The midfielder has also been linked with a move to Liverpool but Old Trafford appears to be the likelier destination as problems mount for Erik ten Hag.

Man United have been tracking a move Amrabat for several weeks. The Morocco star shone at the World Cup in Qatar and has also attracted interest from Barcelona.

Ten Hag has had to be patient as United attempt to move on several unwanted players from his squad. The Red Devils are working on a limited budget and have already completed expensive deals for Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have undergone a complete overhaul of their midfield this summer. Three players were allowed to leave on free transfers, while Jordan Henderson and Fabinho completed moves to the Saudi Pro League.

Jurgen Klopp has brought in three midfield additions, with Wataru Endo the latest arrival. However, he is still open to new recruits between now and the September 1 deadline.

But it appears Amrabat may be beyond them. Italian outlet GianlucaDiMarzio.com claims United are insisting on a deal for Amrabat.

Ten Hag’s side are said to want to wrap up a move soon. An agreement is yet to be reached between United and Amrabat’s current club Fiorentina.

However, Fiorentina are happy to let him leave at the right price. Ten Hag has seen problems mount up in recent days.

Mason Mount will be out for longer than expected with a hamstring injury. He is also without a recognised left-back for Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest after Luke Shaw suffered a muscular injury this week
