Man United receive Huge transfer boost as Bayern Munich make Surprise transfer decision Over Top January target
Bayern Munich have ruled out the possibility of Leroy Sane leaving the club in the January transfer window, with Manchester United and Arsenal both monitoring the situation.
Sane, who completed a £45 million transfer from Manchester City back in 2020, is having a great fifth season at Bayern.
With three goals in ten games this season, there have been hints that Sane may be getting back to his terrifying best, but questions are mounting about the winger’s long-term future at the Allianz Arena.
According to Sky Deutschland, Sane’s current contract with Munich is set to end in 2025, and “time is running out” for Bayern to sign the 28-year-old Germany international.
Although a settlement “is not yet in sight,” all parties are eager and “optimistic” about reaching an agreement regarding an extension.
Bayern wish to reduce Sane’s salary by €2-4million (£1.7-3.3m), with sporting director Max Eberl looking to cut costs where possible. Currently, the forward earns up to €20m-per-season (£16.5m), depending on performance bonuses.
Sane is not the only Bayern player as risk of having their wages slashed, with a host of key squad members, including Joshua Kimmich and Manuel Neuer, also set for difficult conversations.

While Bayern are no closer to reaching an agreement with Sane, the report claims a January transfer ‘can be ruled out at this point’.
But pressure is mounting on the Bundesliga leaders, with the likelihood of a free transfer growing all the time.
Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal have been monitoring the developments ‘very closely’ and are ready to pounce should Bayern change their stance over the coming weeks.
Facing the media in April, Sane insisted he was relaxed and ‘not worried’ about the situation.
‘It depends on a few things,’ the former Manchester City and Schalke star said.
‘My representatives are in contact with Bayern and that will probably intensify a bit in the next few weeks.’
Sane has lifted seven pieces of silverware with Bayern since returning to Germany four years ago, including three Bundesliga trophies and the Club World Cup.
During his previous stint in Manchester, the attacker scored 39 goals in 135 games, helping Pep Guardiola’s City win two Premier League titles, three Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
