Zinedine Zidane open to joining Man United; wants 25-year-old defender as first January signing at Old Trafford – Reports

Zinedine Zidane is tipped to take over from Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United.

The news that former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is willing to succeed Erik ten Hag should the latter be fired midway through the season would excite Manchester United supporters.

According to sources from Football365, the three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid has indicated interest in joining the Red Devils’ team.

After United had one of their worst-ever starts to a Premier League season, Ten Hag is under tremendous pressure to stay on as manager of the team. Currently, they are occupying the menial 14th spot in the rankings.

According to numerous reports, Ten Hag is expected to stay in the position at least until the January window, when the club’s owners will receive a just a fair idea where the campaign is going

Zidane has also reportedly expressed the desire to sign Barcelona’s 25-year-old Jules Kounde if he does get to Old Trafford, with the French centre-back having impressed him immensely.

Manchester United are in the midst of a slump in the Premier League
Manchester United went into the international break playing out a goalless draw with Aston Villa in Birmingham, and are ranked 14th in the league table with eight points to their name. Surprisingly, they have scored just five goals under Ten Hag this season.

The Red Devils have a busy round of fixtures after the international break. They will be playing against Brentford, Fenerbahce, West Ham United, and Leicester City in the span of 11 days. The squad’s tenacity will be tested to the core in this phase.

Ten Hag kept his job at the end of last season by virtue of beating old rivals Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup in May. Owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe handed him a one-year extension following that.

However, the Dutchman has looked bereft of ideas this season. His players too have let him down constantly, making him look like a man deemed for a sacking sooner rather than later
